The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for “Body of Christ”) is a solemn Catholic celebration honoring the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist (text of the Mass here). It celebrates the doctrine of transubstantiation, the belief that the bread and wine consecrated during Mass truly become the literal body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus.

Above is Disputation of the Most Holy Sacrament (Italian: La disputa del sacramento), or Disputa, which is a fresco by the Italian Renaissance artist Raphael (painted between 1509 and 1510), in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican.
